Poll shows support for raising taxes on the rich

WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans prefer letting tax cuts expire for the country's
top earners, as President Barack Obama insists, while support has declined for
cutting government services to curb budget deficits, an Associated Press-GfK
poll shows. Fewer than half the Republicans polled favor continuing the Bush-era
tax cuts for the wealthy.
There's also a reluctance to trim Social Security, Medicare or defense programs, three of the biggest drivers of federal spending, the survey released Wednesday found. The results could strengthen Obama's hand in his fiscal cliff duel with Republicans, in which he wants to raise taxes on the rich and cut spending by less than the GOP wants.
As Obama and Republicans joust over ways to avoid tumbling over the cliff when the new year begins, the poll offers scant evidence that the public is willing to sacrifice much when it comes to specific cuts in the name of budget austerity.
OMG and WTF! Who would have ever - ever - predicted - according to a poll, a majority of Americans are okey-dokey with raising taxes on someone else to pay for their goodies from Santa Government? Hey Progressives - where is your vaunted "fairness" in stealing from Producers and giving to Moochers? Is that even moral? You do have morals, don't you? Or is this the "Revenge" you voted for?
Americans (and the rest of the world irrevocably coupled to our economic engine) should be more concerned about the Great Washington Debt Hole our "leaders" have dug for us than the phony "cliff" that's been flogged into distortion by the same elected criminal element who created it -- but AP would have readers believe their poll results - aka Stupidity On Parade - "strengthen[s] Obama's hand". Because there's nothing like a mob of morons to beat down an informed discussion of pragmatic solutions.
Despite the mountain of irrefutable facts Obama's Marxist wet dream will have -0- effect on "cliffs" or holes, guaranteeing insufficient funds to alter the course on the Road to National Bankruptcy, ensuring immediately worse economic conditions, resulting in less Leviathan Chow to feed future obligations, political pimps and media whores (see also: AP above) continue the symbiotic spin of mis-truths, half-truths and outright lies to oblivious Government School Products and the unemployed graduates of No Clue U, living in their parents' basement. Meanwhile, the masses of Low-Information citizens and their Aggressively Ignorant neighbors, happily participate in producing embarrassing poll results above, blithely unaware and uncaring about the long term fate that will eventually smother them and their children's children.

ReplyDeleteThough the threatened 'draconion' cuts to defense spending and entitlement programs are unlikely to last beyond the opportunity of the new Senate to start getting them their money back, they will likely be the only spending cuts that happen in 2013.
